Sundrenched Solstice is the second collaborative painting collection by Samantha Sawyer and Malia Anderson. Influenced by their first whimsical series, the artists began this collection with a color palette: warm, electric hues, evoking the feeling of a humid, magical island summer. The works intertwined their Bahamian and Hawaiian influences while maintaining an ambiguous sense that these scenes were not tied to any one place. Each artwork reflected a dialogue between the two artists as they exchanged the works throughout the process, building upon one another's ideas and surprising each other with every swap. As the final step, the artists bead embroidered each painting, imitating reflective scales and sparkling sunlight.
